Dear Wyld Folk,

I feel I need to begin this post with an apology; October has been very quiet here and you haven’t seen any new content. Along with this there haven’t even been any Band of the Week posts this month. There are a couple of reasons for this.

Firstly, we had a dip in the number of supporters and we had to cancel our Adobe subscription so we couldn’t create any images for the posts. Adobe is such a big part of the picture when creating social media content, and social media is, unfortunately, the main, almost the only way, we can communicate with our audience. We have managed to restart our subscription now, but it makes things tighter for us here.

Secondly, we have both been having a very busy period at work, and our energy levels have been depleted.

But, with Samhain, there are always endings and beginnings. So let us take this opportunity to cut out of our lives, the things that don’t bring us wealth, health and happiness, and bring into our lives, those things which do.

The Statistics

There has been a huge increase in listeners to the station. We are now up to 570 unique listeners! That’s an increase of 229 from last month’s 341! Another three countries have appeared on the map (Iran, Uruguay and Korea) , and the length of time that people are taking to listen to the station, is increasing, there are many people now staying connected for over two hours per session!

Our top ten countries for October are:

United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, France, Canada, Netherlands, Japan, Mexico, Spain.

Facebook Group Closure

Around a week ago, we took the decision to close the Facebook group. It had a very small number of members and we were getting daily applications for what looked like legitimate people, but what turned out to be spam bots. It is no real loss to close it.

So What’s Ahead?

This month begins a period where we have to seriously look at whether we can afford to keep running. The costs of running the station are not easy to meet. Patreon was set up as a way to fund the station, but it is not achieving this. We understand that the cost of living crisis is hitting millions of people, and that an independent radio station will not be high on the list of priorities for most people. Coupled with Apple’s greedy decision to effectively tax anyone who supports us through their app store, this makes finding the funds even more difficult.

To help with this, as there are already a lot of free members here, who will not be getting access to everything, we are considering offering a £1 per month tier, a more affordable way to get access to at least some of the content that is coming.

For now, watch this space!

Bright Blessings and a very Blessed Samahin,

Herne
