A Focus on Deity: Cernunnos, the Antlered One

The horned or antlered deity is perhaps the most beloved and iconic within modern Paganism, and the various forms of this ancient deity, which extend back far beyond the rising of agriculture or the taming of the horse, remain a constant inspiration.


Beautiful bounty of berries

The hedgerows are full to bursting with berries at this time of year.  Blackberries you can eat straight from the bush (but not if you are near a main road, probably best to avoid those ones), elderberries can be made into syrups, cordials and of course…wine.  And hawthorn berries are excellent to work magic with.

Making a local connection

For me, it is about connecting to the land around you.   I don’t live in a tumble-down cottage in the middle of the woods (seriously none of the takeaways deliver…), I do in fact live on the edge of a city.  But the land around me and beneath my feet is ancient.  It has a house on now (obviously) and had dwellings on it before, going back for a very long time.  And the land holds those memories.  There is not only the element of earth beneath our feet but also the history of our ancestors.

Are you enjoying the beautiful Summer weather in the UK? While it might mean that our lawns are parched and yellow (don’t worry, they’ll be back with the first lot of rain!) The dry spell has revealed some previously undiscovered ancient monuments across Britain and Ireland, many of which are truly significant finds.
