It’s back on, but we do need your help.
A few days ago I wrote a post in which I said there would be a pause on the relaunch of Wyldwood Radio. The reason is that I simply can’t afford to fund it on my own.
I wasn’t sure how long a pause it would be. But today, we have had a long meeting about finances and we can, at least for a short while, run it ourselves.
We have to be realistic, this is us, investing in the station with the hope that the support which people offered recently, actually comes in once we begin.
How much does it cost?
Nothing is free, there are costs involved in running any project like this. The biggest costs for a radio station is always licencing fees and royalties, which can easily run into the thousands of £s per year. Thankfully we have been lucky to have found a stable service which covers the fees and royalties.
But there are still costs. These are the ones we need to cover initially, just to be able to continue to run.
- Stream hosting: £192 per annum/£16 per month
- Player web hosting: £36 per annum/£3 per month
- Website: £24 per annum/£2 per month
- Website hosting: £108 per annum/£9 per month
- Adobe subscription: £409.92 per annum/£34.16 per month
Total: £769.92 per annum/£64.16 per month
This is for the absolute bear minimum, it doesn’t cover us for any of the time we put into creating content, managing the stream, buying new music, buying books to review, building and maintaining the website or any of the other costs involved. But it will allow us to run a basic stream and make weekly posts.
So how can I help?
The best way to help us is by supporting us on Patreon.
Every membership helps, every bit of support frees up funds for us to be able to create more content in the form of reviews, interviews and articles, and allows us to bring new music into the stream and begin creating more shows.
So when is it coming back?
We initially hoped to have launched today, but this wasn’t to be.
So we have moved the date of the relaunch to midnight (BST) on 1st July 2024.
We will run it for three months, after which, if we haven’t received any support, we will no longer be able to continue funding it and we will close the doors on the radio for good.
We hope you will consider supporting The Wyldwood.
Bright blessings,
Herne
