My Owl Friends by Kristof Deneghal-Wybouw

Here I come on silent wings

nature wonders what this brings

From the moon in darkened night

I bring you change

I bring insight

I bring you death

I am silent, I am swift

I can see with feathered eyes

I call out to the other guys

With my talons I grab my prey

yet I am silent,

I am the grey

Humans call me a hunting owl

For I lurk and I prowl

I bring you darkness

I bring you vision

For that is my spiritual mission

I am the grey at the night

Silent is my fearful flight

Old folklore has got you scared

Throughout history we were feared

But they are old wrongful tales

For mankind has me failed

Now we are with many less

Since we got hunted down for this

It came all about misunderstanding

you live in cities can’t hear our chanting

I am sorry you lost our calling

we go with you when you are falling

Falling down the great black spiral

for we never wanted this silent quarrel

Humans call me a hunting owl

For I lurk and I prowl

I bring you darkness

I bring you vision

For that is my spiritual mission

And with this rhyme

I hope you see

I can nurture and I can heal

If you allow my silent wings

and don’t choke me with awful things

I am but a silent messenger

One of nature’s own scavenger

Trying my best to survive

And ever more so

to help nature revive…
