Poem: Solstice

Written for the Summer Solstice 2013

My roots are in the dawn,
anchored in the possibility that no matter what may have come before,
the light will return, with clarity, joy and warmth.

My mind is in the stars,
aware of the futility of my actions in the greater scheme of things,
I matter little in this time and place.

My eyes are on the horizon,
where we are today will not matter tomorrow, what we do tomorrow
does not matter today.

But my roots are in the dawn,
This day is mine.
